I am using the ALIX 3D3 toghether with Voyage 0.8.0 for environmental monitoring and we have noticed that the ethernet interface of some ALIXes becomes (after a while of being online) unreacheable or has a very high ping (in the range of 15s or more). During this failure, the device can be reached via other network interfaces and seems to work fine, we searched all logs and found no error being reported. We are sure is not the network because we have seen this problem in different networks and the problems gets solved by simply restarting the network interface. We workaround this problem with the software watchdog but still we see it happening too often and would like to know if any of you have any idea what is the cause of this problem and how it can be solved.

I have had the same problem with an ALIX 1D board.  About once per month the ethernet interface fails.

All that is needed to restore it is a restart, but I was also wondering what is wrong.  Other ALIX 1D

boards that we have will run for years without this problem.  What gives?
